There was a 'Barcelona-esque' feel to E1 during Architecture week, as we learned and developed our own works of Antoni Gaudi, the Catalonia architect. The children enjoyed making clay models of his work and decorating them with coloured pieces for a mosaic look. The children were transfixed by Gaudi's work and some even felt they were in Barcelona!
We also designed our own city, using old cardboard boxes, and developed even further the different shapes of buildings by learning all about skyscrapers and skylines, making our own images of a skyline with sugar paper and coloured strips and paints.
One of the main highlights of the week, however, was taking a cable car over the River Thames and looking over London. There were a lot of "wow's!" "Ooooo!" and generally, smiles from all.
Thanks for everyone who helped make it such a great day!
A big thank you to Nil's dad who is an architect and introduced the children to what the job of an architect is as well as special tools an architect uses. The children showed great interest and enjoyed the session a lot!
