Welcome back to our autumn term!
It has been lovely to see how all children have started to settle in during the first days of term.
It was great to see how the children have chosen their work independently during the morning work cycle and how they were happy to be introduced to new Montessori materials. We have started our term´s project 'Vertebrates and Invertebrates' looking at the black time line how life started with a 'big bang' and how animals, plants and human beings started to evolve over millions and billions of years. The children have also studied the importance of the sun and the difference between herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. Next week we will focus on learning about fish, the characteristics and parts of fish and the how simple the very first fish in our oceans were millions of years ago.
We are also very much looking forward to our trip to the Science museum together with Elementary 2 on Thursday, 10th October where we will be watching the film "Deep Sea in 3D" in the Imax cinema which will nicely link to our project about animals. If you would like to come along and help n our trip you are very welcome, please let Miss Sylvia know as soon as possible. Of course we have also other trips planned. Information about them will follow closer to their date.
Elementary 1 enjoyed looking at different leaf shapes of our Montessori leaf cabinet and were excited to collect leaves in the garden for or nature table. The children are very welcome to bring in something from their way to school, the garden, the park, etc.. for our nature table.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you on our parent evening 'Introduction to the Junior School' on Wednesday, 25th September at 7.00 pm at the junior school where we will tell you more about what is planned for this term in Elementary 1, how Montessori works in this class and of course you will have the chance to ask questions, meet other parents, meet the Elementary 1 teachers and look at the Montessori materials your children are currently using.
We might see you already before that on our coffee/tea morning with Miss Sylvia our head teacher and Mr John the director of the school on Monday, 16th September between 9.00 and 10.00 am at the junior school.
We are very much looking forward to this fun filled term!
