On 5th February 2015 , Elementary 1 and 2 had a visit from Brian, the beekeeper.
He talked about different kinds of bees: drones, workers, nurse bees and the queen. He told the children about how he looks after bees and the jobs that different bees do.
We heard lots of interesting things, like the fact that in its 6 week life span, one bee makes just half a teaspoon of honey. How incredible is that? It made the children realise what effort goes into this valuable food and why it must never be wasted. He also showed his special hat to the children and they had a go at wearing it!
Brian said that just now the bees are hibernating but he promised to return with them later in the summer.
We cannot wait!
