The children in Elementary 1 learnt about galaxies and different facts about stars. The hottest stars are blue and the coolest are red. In between are white, yellow and orange stars. The sun is the nearest star to planet Earth, but there are many more stars in the universe too far for us to travel to.
As our art activity we made our own galaxy paintings with lots of different stars in the garden on a warm day.
The children splashed colourful paint on black paper using the "action painting style" that the famous American painter Jackson Pollock used when he painted. The children absolutely loved this active way of painting and expressing themselves, but as you can imagine we had to clean many shoes at the end of this fun session!
I am sure we will do some more "Jackson Pollock" paintings in the near future!
