Elementary 2 and Primary/ Prep thoroughly enjoyed meeting Diane Davis. Diane Davis is the only British archaeologist specializing in the Maya civilization.

The workshop took place in the morning and lasted until lunch. Children carried activities of historical enquiry and a large collection of Maya artefacts were available for them.

There was also time for questions, as there were so many!

Some of the many activities that we did were:

The magnificent achievements of the Maya in architecture, art, maths, astronomy, the calendar, writing and chocolate

The children looked at a vast collection of artefacts.

Activities such as making your own Maya calendar, calculating sums using the Maya number system and deciphering Maya art.

The children seemed inspired by the Maya achievements and researched in their morning work cycle the next day as well.
