During the first few weeks of school, the children of Elementary 1 have been busy getting to know the new children and discovering their environment with new activities. The new science experiments on the science shelf have been a great hit!
As part of the morning work cycle the children have been busy with maths, literacy and lots of other individual learning based on Montessori materials and activities prepared for them for this term linked to this terms project.
As part of the project we have also been discussing and studying the solar system, the planets, the layers of the Earth and volcanoes. The children loved making their own volcano and trying out the volcano science experiment.
This week we have started to learn about herbivores, carnivores and omnivores and throughout the next weeks we will be exploring the characteristics of different animal groups such as mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish and birds.
The weather has been so nice, so the children have enjoyed playing outside for their sports lessons. Especially playing football, which is a hit at the moment.
We are going to have a busy term ahead of us, learning lots of other things and having fun together.
I look forward to this!
