Today (4 March 2013) the children of Primary began their topic of the Ancient Romans through learning about the contributions the Romans have developed towards architecture. We discovered that some designs such as Roman arches were built with a purposeful meaning.
The children integrated this lesson with PSHE (Physical, Social and Health Education) as they learned that the Triumphal arch was designed to celebrate when a Roman Emperor or general celebrated a victory. The children got great enjoyment in creating their own triumphal arch and discussed their victories. They also built their own arches and identified the parts of a Romam arch.
