William Ware Workshop
After arrival and some lunch we spent 30 minutes in the Docklands at War gallery exploring a variety of memorabilia in relation to WW2.
The educator at the museum then met us at a replica of an air raid shelter where we discussed what life may have been like during this time as well as learning a little about the war artist we were studying William Ware.
We explored and discusses a range of William Ware͛'s paintings. We later had the opportunity to choose a painting to sketch and reinvent our own interpretations using pastel crayons. Finally we viewed and admired each others work.
The children developed a great sense of respect and awareness for those who lived during this difficult time. It should also enable them to understand why we commemorate on Remembrance Sunday.
