Dear Parent / Guardian,

I am writing to you with very sad news.

I have had to make the truly painful decision to close our wonderful Junior School from the end of this term (Friday 19th July 2019).

This decision has not been made lightly and has been essentially forced on me due to the ongoing difficult economic position of the school.

For some time the number of the children attending the school has been lower than the minimum number needed to continue financially.  Nonetheless, I have been able to support the school, while every effort has been made to increase the student numbers.

However, a number of factors have made it impossible to continue beyond July:

1.            The child numbers for September onwards have fallen further to the point where the school would be unable to meet its obligations;

2.            The effect of Brexit appears to have reduced the number of foreign parents coming to London on contract who are looking for a Montessori Junior School.  Equally, a number of existing foreign parents have given notice as they are returning to their home countries.;

3.            With the current economic position in the UK, it has proven more difficult for some parents to be able to afford private school fees.

Ultimately, a combination of the above has forced us into this regrettable position.

In light of the above, I have to give formal notice that the school will not be re-opening in September and as such we will not be able to offer a place for your child / children beyond the end of this term.  Whilst this news has been a terrible shock for all the staff at the Junior School, we are solid in our commitment to have a wonderful final Summer Term.

I can assure you of both the commitment and professionalism of all our wonderful teachers and I know that you will give them your very best support over the next few months.

Finally, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support in making our school such a wonderful place - both for the children, the parents, and the staff.  It is no exaggeration to say the Rainbow has always had and still has a strong sense of family.  The Junior School has and will leave a strong history of giving its children the very best start in life, full of wonder and growth for their lives ahead.

Our Wonderful Rainbow Nurseries ...

I would like to also stress that the difficulties affecting the Junior School in no way affect our nurseries based in West Hampstead and Queens Park.  Both of these are very established and successful.

Yours sincerely,

John Madden
